Your stream keeps going: Home button, a closed app, and lost signal

Pressing Home, a crash, or a dropped signal no longer ends your YouTube video. Here is what happens in each case, and how to carry on the same broadcast.

A ground is a hard place to stream from. Phones ring, apps get closed by mistake, and the signal comes and goes behind the pavilion. From version 0.1.22 none of that ends your broadcast. The same YouTube video carries on, so viewers keep one link and the recording stays in one piece. Only End Live ends the video.

If you press Home

  • Android 12 and newer: the stream shrinks into a small floating window and keeps going. Tap the window to come back full screen.
  • iPhone: the picture pauses while you are away and picks up again a moment after you return to the app.

If the app closes or crashes

Closing the app is not End Live, and it is not Pause. The YouTube broadcast stays on. Open County Cricket again and it asks: Your stream is still live. Tap Continue to send the camera to the same video from this phone. You can also tap Resume Live on the match banner. This works even after the last ball, so you can still show the result.

If the signal drops

The phone keeps trying to reconnect on the same video for as long as it takes, and shows Connection dropped — trying again… while it does. Move towards a better signal if you can; you do not need to tap anything. Earlier versions gave up after five tries.

Clearer sound, sharper picture

  • Android sound is clean again: live and the YouTube recording no longer sound hollow or choppy.
  • Android and iPhone both send a sharper picture.
  • Tapping Pause just as an innings or the match ends covers the camera at once, and the microphone stays off while a break or result card is up.
