Release notes

What’s new

What changed in each version of the County Cricket app and the website that goes with it.

v0.1.21 · New home on Cloudflare

7 Oct 2026

County Cricket now runs on Cloudflare at countycricket.app. Sign in once more with your phone number. Your matches and stats start fresh on the new app.

Sign-in and website

  • The app and website moved to a new backend on Cloudflare. Sign in again once with your phone number
  • Your matches, stats, badges and follows start fresh. Matches scored on earlier versions are not carried over
  • The website is now countycricket.app, and shared match links open the app
  • Privacy policy updated (7 October 2026): Cloudflare now stores the data

Starting a match

  • Start button in the middle of the bottom bar opens New match from any tab
  • Head to Head and Double Header can give one side a head start of extra runs
  • Let's Play is tidier and uses first names; grounds and places start with the 4 you used last
  • The commentary always calls out the free hit

Lists, Leaderboard and profile

  • Match lists and the Leaderboard have a Filters page (time period, match style, ball type); lists open on the last month
  • Only verified matches count toward the Leaderboard, with a time-period filter
  • My Profile menu grouped into cards; notification switches save as you flip them, with an on/off switch for push on this phone

Scoring and iPhone

  • The only scoring phone is never parked as “Scoring moved on another device”, and “unsynced” appears only for a real outage
  • iPhone: Go Live scoreboard fixed, Rate us opens the right store, one camera and microphone permission text

v0.1.20 · Stay on the pad

30 Sep 2026

Scoring on one phone no longer stops with “Scoring moved on another device” when you are the only scorer.

Scoring

  • A ball the server already has no longer parks this phone. The pad keeps scoring, and a phone already stuck on that banner uploads the ball and clears it
  • A real handover to another phone still parks the pad

v0.1.19 · A steadier score

30 Sep 2026

Scoring stays on your phone when you are the only scorer, the YouTube picture looks like a tennis-ball broadcast, and lists and the leaderboard show what actually happened.

Scoring

  • The only scoring phone no longer goes view-only with “Scoring moved on another device”
  • Edit scoring waits only when another phone really has the seat, and a phone that has gone quiet hands the seat over after 45 seconds
  • A stalled connection gives up after 20 seconds instead of sitting on Opening scoring…
  • The unsynced chip shows only changes that failed to upload, and it clears once a later upload gets through
  • Players you added stay on the match while the upload is still catching up

Go Live

  • TV-style graphics on the YouTube stream and the in-app player: a live score bar, full-frame 4, 6 and W, over and innings cards
  • Live asks how you will stream — Mobile Phone continues into Go Live; Professional Camera is coming soon
  • An assigned-to-stream alert opens the match instead of starting the camera
  • A scheduled match the organiser deletes disappears from the scorer’s and streamer’s phones

Matches and the leaderboard

  • Home shows live matches and results you play, score, stream, organise, or follow
  • A match that never started moves to Results as Not played 12 hours after its scheduled time
  • Matches I Streamed on your profile, under Matches I Scored
  • Target matches no longer invent a toss, and an upcoming card shows the two sides, the start time, and the ground
  • Batting and bowling Inn counts innings actually played; a player with none reads Yet to bat or Yet to bowl

v0.1.18 · Alerts that reach you

28 Sep 2026

Match, crew, and chat alerts now reach your lock screen within seconds, and a short name from your contacts is caught before you start the match.

Notifications

  • The app asks for notification permission once, the first time you reach Home — before, it only asked from Notifications settings, so many phones never got alerts
  • Alerts arrive within seconds instead of hours

Matches

  • Add player flags a name that is too short or too long as soon as you pick it from contacts, not when you start or schedule the match
  • Let’s Play: fielders is optional — leave it blank to keep the match’s count

v0.1.17 · Early Access

28 Sep 2026

Score tennis-ball matches offline, watch them from any browser, and go live on YouTube with the score in the picture.

Scoring

  • Match styles: Target (1 vs 1, 1 vs 2, 2 vs 2), Head to Head (1 vs 1), Double header (2 vs 2 or 1 vs 2) — hard or soft tennis ball; turf, cement, or soil
  • Let’s Play: overs, extra balls, wickets, fielders, target, toss, and the opening pair — then Start scoring
  • Full-screen scoring pad — runs 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6; Wd and Nb with an extra-runs sheet; bowled, caught, run out, stumped, and hit wicket; undo; free hit after a no-ball; skippable wagon-wheel tap after 1–6
  • Offline-first balls — everything saves on the phone first and syncs, in order, when you reconnect
  • Match settings: Delayed and Resume, Abandoned, Walkover, End match, and transfers
  • Insights and commentary written from the match: need rate, run rate, projected score, ahead or behind, over progress, milestones
  • Edit score on completed matches (organiser or scorer): fix the ball in a draft, preview, then publish — up to five published edits per match

Crew and streaming

  • Match Crew: assign a scorer and a streamer at create, transfer either mid-match, and hand streaming to a second phone without ending the video
  • YouTube Go Live from the installed app: ultra-low-latency broadcast to your own channel with the live score burned into the video
  • The in-app player follows the video’s real delay, so a boundary shows when the ball does

Watching and sharing

  • Match hub: Info · Live/Summary · Scorecard · Insights · Commentary · Gallery (up to 5 photos), in the app and on the website
  • Public website at countycricket.online: live, future, and past matches, live video under the score, search, player, ground, group, and location pages — no login
  • Share links are countycricket.online/match/… with the screen you were on. They open in the app when it is installed, on the same tab, and on the website when it is not
  • Open a shared link while signed out and you land on the match after signing in
  • Share a link, a scorecard image, or a profile QR; the website has Share buttons too
  • A live viewer count and a “scorer looks offline” hint after 45 seconds of silence

Social and profile

  • Home: 24-hour stories, matches you play or follow, players you might know
  • My Matches filters: All · Live · Upcoming · Results
  • Search: Players (including people who have not signed up), Grounds, Locations. Follow tab: Contacts, Location, Followers, Following, Grounds, Teammates, Opponents
  • 98 badges that unlock automatically, a Leaderboard for batting and bowling by style, Performance, and Matches I Scored
  • Mutual-follow 1:1 chat with photos, optional email verification
  • Notifications settings: Matches, General, Chat
  • An update screen tells you when a newer version is on the store
  • Privacy: phone numbers and dates of birth are never shown to other people, and profile QR codes and links carry a random id instead of a number

Help and information

  • Settings: Help / FAQs, Blog, About us, Contact us, Feedback, What’s new, Privacy, and Terms — in the app and on countycricket.online
  • A library of step-by-step guides covering scoring, links, Go Live, privacy, and more
  • Delete your account from Settings at any time
