Privacy policy

What County Cricket collects, what is public on the score site, and the choices you have.

Effective 7 October 2026

In short

  • Your mobile number signs you in. Everything else is match data or something you choose to add.
  • Scores, display names, avatars, venues, and match photos are public with a link. Phone numbers and dates of birth are never shown to other people, and chat, follow lists, and stories stay in the app.
  • We do not sell your data or use it for advertising or tracking.
  • Every device permission is optional, and you can delete your account in the app at any time.

This summary is a convenience. The full text below is what applies.

County Cricket (“we”, “us”) operates the County Cricket mobile app (package live.countycricket.app) and the public score site at countycricket.app. This policy applies when you create an account, score or watch a match, or open a shared link. By using the app you agree to this policy. The website is watch-only and does not require a login.

1.Who we are

We build a scoring-first product for Indian tennis-ball county and street cricket. Support is countycricket2027@gmail.com. We do not run a paid shop or sell advertising space in the app today.

2.Information we collect

  • Phone number — required to sign in with OTP. Used to identify your account, link you to the matches you play, open chat, and complete scorer or streamer handoff. It is never shown to other people; the person who adds you to a match types it to find you, and the app then shows only its last four digits.
  • Profile — display name, date of birth, city, and your batting and bowling style, which are asked when you set up your profile; plus an optional photo, playing role, and email (verification). Your date of birth is never shown to anyone else, and only you can read it.
  • Match data — sides, player names, ball-by-ball scores, optional wagon-wheel zone and shot, ground, photos, and stories you add.
  • Social — follows, profile views, 1:1 chat (text and images), and notification preferences (Matches, General, Chat).
  • Views — opening a match on the website or in the app records a random anonymous viewer key against that match, so we can show who is watching now and how many have viewed it. The key is not linked to your name or number.
  • Feedback and support — if you send feedback, the message reaches our support inbox with your name, account id, and registered phone number so we can reply.
  • Device — a push token so we can send alerts you turned on, plus on-device caches so scoring works offline.
  • Contacts (optional) — with permission we read numbers on the device, keep them locally, and send up to 200 normalised numbers to the server only to show who already uses the app. We do not upload contact names.
  • Location (optional) — with permission we may suggest a city. We store the city and ground names you type, not raw GPS.
  • Camera, microphone, and photos (optional) — profile, stories, chat, match Gallery, and YouTube Go Live. Live video is published on your YouTube channel, not stored by us as a video host.

3.How we use information

  • Operate login, scoring, sync, the public board, follow, stories, chat, notifications, and Go Live.
  • Keep matches consistent between phones and countycricket.app.
  • Send OTP codes and, if you opt in, push alerts for match start/result, follows, handoff, and chat.
  • Work out badges, the Leaderboard, and your Performance numbers from completed matches.
  • Keep the service safe — mutual-follow chat, block abusive links, and answer support mail.
  • Diagnose crashes (Sentry). We do not use this for advertising.

4.What is public

Anyone with a link can see live and completed scores, display names, avatars, venues, public player pages, group/ground/location pages, and match Gallery photos on countycricket.app — no account required. Phone numbers and dates of birth are never shown on public pages or to other people. Stories, chat, and follow lists stay in the app. A YouTube stream is public under YouTube’s rules. Do not put a phone number, address, or anything you would not show a stranger on a scorecard or in a photo.

Your profile QR and link contain a random id, not your phone number. QR codes and links made by app versions before 27 September 2026 carried the sharer’s mobile number in the link itself; share a fresh QR from the app.

5.What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not use your data for third-party advertising or tracking pixels.
  • We do not upload contact names.
  • We do not store raw GPS.
  • We do not take scoring edits from the website.

6.Third-party services

These processors act only to run the service. Their own terms apply to OTP, push, and YouTube.

  • Cloudflare — database, sign-in, file storage, and website hosting.
  • MSG91 — SMS one-time passwords.
  • Expo, Apple, Google, and Firebase — push delivery.
  • YouTube / Google — only if you tap Go Live. You connect your own channel. Camera and microphone stay on this device until you End Live.
  • Sentry — crash reports, with phone numbers removed and no advertising identifiers.
  • SendGrid or SMTP (if enabled) — optional email verification and support mail.

7.Your choices and rights

  • Edit name, city, photo, email, and playing extras on You → pencil.
  • Turn Matches, General, and Chat alerts on or off in Notifications settings (each switch saves as you flip it), or turn off push on one phone with Send push messages to this phone.
  • Revoke contacts, location, camera, microphone, and notifications in the phone’s settings.
  • Disconnect YouTube from your Google account if you no longer want County Cricket to use that channel.
  • Delete the account in Settings → Delete account. We remove the login, profile, and on-device caches. Match history may keep player names so group cards still make sense; phone numbers on those rows are cleared. Deletion cannot be undone.
  • In India you may ask us to confirm what we hold, correct it, or erase what the product can erase. Email support with the registered phone. We may need that number to find the account.

8.Retention

  • Account data stays until you delete the account.
  • Stories expire after 24 hours. Chat photos are removed after 30 days.
  • Offline balls stay on the scoring phone until they sync.
  • Crash logs are kept only as long as we need them to fix a fault.
  • OTP messages are handled by MSG91 and are not stored by us as a message archive.

9.Cookies and the public site

countycricket.app is a public scoreboard with no login. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. The site keeps one random anonymous viewer key in your browser’s local storage so a match’s “watching now” count does not count you twice; it is not linked to your identity and you can clear it at any time. Any other storage is only what is strictly needed to load the pages.

10.Security

Traffic uses HTTPS. Sign-in is a verified phone OTP, not a password we store. Phone numbers and dates of birth are withheld from the public website’s data access, and your date of birth can be read only by you — your phone number the same, on every signed-in account, not just the website. No method is perfectly secure. If you think a number was used without you, contact us at once.

11.Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data. Write to us if you believe a child created an account and we will remove it.

12.Changes

When this policy changes we update the page and the effective date. Keep using the app after that date and you accept the new version.
