The scoring engine ends an innings for you, works out the result, and writes the result line that appears on the scorecard and the match card. You do not type the result.
An innings ends when
- all the wickets you set on Let’s Play are gone,
- the overs are bowled, including any extra balls, or
- the chase target is reached.
How the winner is decided
- Target: the batting side wins by reaching the target, and the result reads “won by N wickets” — the wickets they had left. If they fall short, the other side wins “by N runs”, the runs they missed by.
- Head to Head: two innings, and the higher individual total wins. Equal totals give “Match drawn”.
- Double header: two innings, and the higher side total wins. Equal totals give “Match tied”.
In Head to Head and Double header the second innings chases the first innings total plus one. If the side batting second passes it, the result is by wickets; otherwise it is by runs.
Ending a match some other way
Open Match settings on a live match (the gear on the match screen). The organiser or the scorer will find:
- Delayed — pauses the match. It stays in Live on the feed until you choose Resume — back to live.
- End match — “Saves the result and opens the summary.” Use it when play is finished but the engine has not ended the innings by itself.
- Abandoned — “Scoring stops. Scorecard stays available.” The match ends without a winner.
- Walkover — you pick which side wins the match, without playing it out.
Abandoned and walkover matches are final: they cannot be corrected afterwards with Edit score.
After the last ball
- The card, the result, and the public board update once the phone syncs.
- Followers of the players and the ground get a result alert if they turned Matches notifications on.
- Badges are worked out for completed and walkover matches.
- If you notice a mistake, the organiser or the assigned scorer can use Edit score — see Edit score after a completed match.
