A scorer’s checklist for a society match

Before you leave, at the toss, ball by ball, and after the last over — small habits that keep a match clean.

Scoring a five-over match takes about as long as watching one, and it is easier when you have set things up in the right order. This is a checklist, not a rulebook.

Before you leave home

  • Charge the phone, and bring a charger or a power bank if you plan to stream.
  • Sign in and open the app once with data on, so you are signed in and up to date.
  • Create the match, or schedule it in advance, and add the players by their mobile numbers. Registered players are filled in for you.
  • Decide who is the scorer and who is the streamer. Two phones is easier than one.

At the ground

  • Open the fixture under My Matches → Upcoming and choose Start now.
  • On Let’s Play, confirm overs, wickets, fielders, and the target. Use extra balls if the agreed length is something like 5.2 overs.
  • Record the toss. On Target, pick who bats first.
  • Choose the opening batter and bowler, and tap Start scoring.

While the match is on

  • Score each ball as it happens. If you slip, hit Undo straight away.
  • Use Wd and Nb for extras rather than adjusting runs afterwards; the pad records the free hit for you.
  • Change the batter or bowler above the pad when the roles change between overs.
  • If a shower stops play, open Match settings and mark the match Delayed so people know it is paused rather than finished. Choose Resume — back to live when play restarts.

After the last ball

  • Check the result line on the scorecard.
  • Share the link or a picture of the scorecard.
  • Add up to five photos to the Gallery.
  • If a mistake slipped through, use Edit score (draft, then publish; organiser or assigned scorer).
