On the scoring pad, tap 0 and the ball is logged. Tap 1, 2, 3, 4, or 6 and a full-screen wagon wheel opens, drawn from the batter’s view. Tapping a zone is optional. Skip still saves the runs, so scoring never stalls.
The eight zones
- Long off
- Cover
- Deep point
- Third man
- Deep fine leg
- Deep square leg
- Mid wicket
- Long on
Then a shot, if you want one
After you tap a zone, the app offers the shots that usually go there — for example Cover drive, Extra cover, Lofted, or Square drive for Cover, and Sweep, Pull, Hook, or Slog Sweep for Deep square leg. Pick one, tap Change area if you chose the wrong zone, or save without a shot name.
When the wheel does not open
Dots, wides, no-balls, and wickets skip the wheel. Undo closes an open wheel or removes the last ball if none is open.
What it is for
The zone and the shot are saved with the ball. Nothing draws the wagon chart yet — neither the app nor the website — and Insights stays an over-by-over trail of the numbers, so today the wheel is a record for the scorecard data. Drawing the chart is on the list in What 1.0 leaves out. Watchers see the same runs, extras, and wickets on the live board whether or not a zone was tapped.
