What’s new in 0.1.22: match-up banners and a stronger stream

Shareable match-up banners, match tickets on Home, mid-match edits, a broadcast-style YouTube stream that survives a closed app, and a new video player.

Version 0.1.22 is the biggest update since 1.0. It makes a match look good before it starts, keeps a stream alive when the ground does its worst, and gives viewers better numbers on the website. Here is everything, with a guide for each part.

Matches and Home

  • Home shows live, then upcoming, then finished matches, as match tickets with your role on each.
  • Upcoming matches get a match-up banner with photos, date, time and ground. Schedule and Share send it as a picture.
  • The scorer can change overs, wickets, the target, extra balls and extra runs after the start — for example when rain shortens a game.
  • Naming someone else as scorer hands them the seat straight away; the old phone is asked to Accept only if it is scoring at that moment.
  • Let’s Play and the match screen open straight away instead of waiting on the internet.

YouTube stream

  • Players’ photos replace the letters, and an umpire makes the signal for every four, six, wicket, no ball, wide and free hit.
  • Batting and bowling stats cards before each innings; the streamer taps Score bar to start the score.
  • A clean corner tag for FOUR, SIX and WICKET; scorecard at the innings break, then the target; the result in gold.
  • If the app closes or crashes while live, reopen it to continue the same YouTube video.
  • Android: pressing Home keeps the stream going in a small floating window. A lost signal keeps retrying on the same video.
  • Clearer Android sound and a sharper picture on Android and iPhone.
  • The score bar is no longer cut off at the bottom on some Android phones.
  • Preview has a Camera card, so you can check the ground and zoom before going live.
  • One Cards button opens a panel of every card you can put on air, with a line on what each does.
  • No popup covers the stream when someone opens scoring on another phone.

Watching

  • A new match video player with play and pause, 10-second jumps, a progress bar, quality and playback speed.
  • The website’s live board shows the run rate, required rate, projected score, crease figures and the bowler’s figures.

Everything else

  • A smoother opening screen.
  • A Followed you back alert when someone you follow follows you, so you can message each other.
  • Plain sync messages, and a match that never appeared online now saves.
  • Double taps no longer open a screen twice, create two matches, or send two messages.
  • Buttons, the chat box and the scoring pad sit above the + Start button.
